NAFTA: A Race to The Bottom

Published 05/25/08 Economy In Crisis - Print Article
E-mail - editor@economyincisis.org

Source The Huntsville Times:

It makes me downright nervous to find out that, in the name of profit, some U.S. airlines outsource the maintenance of their planes to shops in Mexico, Tanzania and Thirdworldia in general.

Component parts, wiring harnesses, switches, tails, rudders, wings, engines, etc. are made elsewhere as well. Obviously, any are vital to the safe operation of an airliner.

...

Ain't it funny just how right ol' H. Ross Perot proved to be about NAFTA? As for the wages, "We hafta use NAFTA," scream the airlines who pay foreign chicken feed for safety-critical labor, "got to do it to hold ticket prices down."
