The North American Union – A Hare-Brained And Inconceivable Scheme

Published 08/06/08 Dustin Ensinger - Print Article

The final blow to America’s manufacturing base may come in the form of the North American Union and the NAFTA Superhighway. These menaces will essentially break down any remaining economic barriers among the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

This will only speed up the process of American companies outsourcing jobs to Mexico in return for less regulation and sub-par working conditions, all to the detriment of the American worker.

These so called “free trade” agreements have destroyed America’s industrial base and left countless blue-collar workers scrambling to find jobs that pay half as well. NAFTA has ensured that America will remain unable to compete in the global marketplace, while forcing the nation to rely on foreign imports. It will be the nail in the coffin for American jobs and manufacturing if the North American Union arises from the deleterious trade bloc that is NAFTA.

Source Youngstwon Vindicator:

Although some American manufacturers say they have benefited from the North American Free Trade Agreement, Ohioans and Michigan workers undoubtedly disagree (top story, July 5). “Free trade” is not necessarily fair trade, and in this instance Ross Perot was right about the sucking sound. But it’s not just NAFTA that seriously concerns me.

President Clinton signed NAFTA and also gave Most Favored Nation trade status to China long-term. Both have contributed significantly to the destruction of this country’s manufacturing base. Assembly lines were shipped south to Mexico and west to China. Our machine tool industry is on its knees and we are not training people to replace skilled tool and die makers, milling machine specialists, and others who are retiring. The future looks bleak.

But wait, there’s more! President Bush has agreed with Mexican Presidents Fox and Calderone, and with Canada’s prime ministers to create a North American Union (NAU), combining Canada, the USA, and Mexico into one borderless economic community, similar to the European Union. In conjunction with this is the NAFTA Superhighway, a ten-lane monster toll road running from the west coast of Mexico up through Texas and on into Canada, with a major hub in Kansas. Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius must be thrilled. The toll road will be built and administered (owned) by a Spanish company, legally represented by Rudy Giuliani’s law firm.

guest says "The NAU delusion" on 08/06/08
America has many delusions. The so-called NAU is one of them. It is invented to promote ideology and agenda. To scare the mass and to blame. As it is non-existent it is perfect to serve that role.
Case in point. While talks of the NAU is loud and numbing in the US, it has no presence, not even a whisper, in Mexico and Canada. Not in government, not in think tanks, not in the media, not in the business community, and certainly not in the public at-large.
It is yet another fine example of American delusions whose only value is that of entertainment.
