Levin Introduces Legislation to Move Economy Past Fossil Fuels +  


Rep. Sander Levin (D-MI), Ways and Means Committee Chairman, Tuesday announced the introduction of legislation designed to both spur the manufacturing sector and move the nation’s economy beyond fossil fuels, according to a press release from the congressman’s office.

To further ensure that American workers receive proper and modern training, Halvorson has also co-authored and introduced the AMERICA Works Act (H.R. 4072), legislation that seeks to modernize federal workforce training programs to better prepare participants for high-tech jobs in the manufacturing sector. Unfortunately, this bill appears dead in committee.

What China's Reapplication to the WTO Procurement Group Means 2  


China wishes to reapply and join the WTO Procurement Group because it wants access to bid on businesses in the U.S. and the EU. Western companies wish to be able to bid in China for business, but China is not willing to open access to the large state-owned enterprises.

BP has already failed on its promise to promptly fund all financial claims resulting from the spill. The oil giant spared no expense when it came to funding television and radio commercials and building a claims website.

Tuesday was a sad day for this country. The House had the opportunity to stop the war in Afghanistan in its tracks. Instead it voted to continue to fund the war approving the $58.8 billion war funding bill.
