Wake Up America! Our Economy Is NOT Getting Better!

Don’t let the mainstream media fool you. Even though they’re reporting that the unemployment rate fell to 7.3 percent from 7.4 percent in July and that there’s been roughly 169,000 jobs added to the economy recently, they’re not reporting that 312,000 Americans dropped out of the labor force! They’re not reporting that the number of people actually reporting having a job actually fell by 112,000 in the survey on which the unemployment rate is based.

The mainstream media is skewing the numbers to make things look better than they really are. While the media is reporting an unemployment rate of 7.3 percent, other experts, like Shadow Government Statistics, are using more reliable government statistics,  and report that the actual unemployment rate is 23 percent!

So despite the lies and phony numbers the mainstream media tries to feed you about the economy getting better, the fact is the U.S. economy remains sluggish. More and more Americans are seeking unemployment benefits than ever before because while the Obama administration and Congress are too focused on foreign problem like Syria, jobs here at home simply aren’t being created.

One industry in particular that has suffered since our economy began to decline is manufacturing. Manufacturing used to be one of our largest industries and made up the majority of blue-collar, middle class jobs. However, via “free trade,” all of that changed.

“Free trade” means unrestricted, uncontrolled access to our economy, tariff- and duty-free, for goods made for $4-per-hour or less. We cannot compete with these wages so we are forced to choose between going bankrupt, outsourcing nearly all of our manufacturing, or simply selling out. The U.S. is the largest consumer market in the world. Opening our doors to “free trade” agreements has resulted in enormous trade deficits and the extinction of many powerful, valuable U.S. businesses. Jobs in particular have been affected — primarily where manufacturing is concerned.

Many say that “free trade” agreements like the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and President Obama’s US-Korean Free Trade Agreement (KORUS), have made it virtually impossible for U.S.-based manufacturers to compete in the global marketplace because they are drowning in the explosion of cheap, foreign-made products and imports flooding our markets.

Furthermore — and because of the inaction of Washington — entire cities, like Detroit, have been reduced to wastelands and thousands of manufacturing jobs have been lost to the off-shoring or outsourcing of industries. Many automobile factories that once secured Detroit and other prominent cities with stable, good-paying jobs have moved to countries like Canada and Mexico, while others were simply forced out of business as foreign competition invaded our cities.

We cannot continue to operate under “free trade!” As more and more people continue to file claims for unemployment benefits, our economy will continue to suffer. We need our leaders to focus on the problems here at home before they tackle the problems of the rest of the world!

Contact your congressional  representative and tell them that now is the time to protest President Obama’s harmful “free trade” agenda that will only result in more job losses. Send this to five of your friends and have them do the same.
